Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatician to join our Data Science team in AZ R&D China in support of data analysis for translation research. As an individual contributor, the successful candidate will play a critical role in leveraging bioinformatics expertise to drive insights from large-scale biological and clinical datasets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced bioinformatics tools and techniques to analyze high-dimensional biological data sets from preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data analysis strategies to support translational research objectives.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of computational pipelines for processing and analyzing multi-omics data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning approaches to identify biomarkers, drug targets, and potential mechanisms of action for therapeutic candidates.
  • Stay abreast of emerging bioinformatics methodologies and tools, and proactively integrate relevant technologies into the data analysis workflow.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of applying bioinformatics methods to support drug discovery and development within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in bioinformatics, such as Python, R, and/or Perl, with a demonstrated ability to write efficient, maintainable code for data analysis and visualization.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and best practices for collaborative software development in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of database management and querying using SQL or related technologies for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Strong understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and disease mechanisms, with the ability to interpret and contextualize complex biological data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based computing environments and big data technologies for scalable bioinformatics analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices for the analysis and interpretation of clinical and translational data.
  • Experience with workflow management systems (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow) for the design and execution of reproducible and scalable data analysis pipelines.
