The Investigations Manager role sits within our Global Compliance Investigations (GCI) team and reports directly to one of the Global Investigations Directors (GIDs). It is a great opportunity to take on a diverse array of investigative work and related project management tasks which will help to safeguard AstraZeneca’s reputation and minimise our exposure to risk.  

Furthermore, the role demands some flexibility from the successful candidate as it involves facilitating interactions with individuals located across the world. As such, occasional international travel to perform investigative activities, sometimes at relatively short notice, is foreseeable. 

Responsibilities 

  • Supporting the Head of Global Investigations and our GIDs as they lead investigation of cases at any of our global locations. 

  • Project and case management in a very fast-paced environment. 

  • Identifying, assembling, and analysing relevant data and documents as well as helping our GIDs with the development and execution of their investigations. 

  • Preparing documentation and taking notes for key witness interviews. 

  • Carrying out preliminary and background interviews as part of the fact-finding process. 

  • Liaising with external vendors (for translation/interpretation services) and with internal service providers (for digital e-discovery/collection/review activities to inform our investigations) and supporting our investigators in the delivery of their case reports. 

  • Providing forensic analysis of case materials - everything from expense reports to contractual arrangements. 

  • Making preliminary assessments of new cases to confirm that they fall within GCI’s remit. 

  • Supporting GCI in assessing the team’s operational effectiveness, producing metrics and highlighting how GCI adds value across the entire business. 

Essential Criteria 

  • Someone who can make their mark from the outset who possesses a natural curiosity and has a proactive approach.   

  • Experience in an in-house/internal/corporate investigations function or, alternatively, at a major audit/accounting firm or international law firm performing investigative work on behalf of clients. 

  • Experience carrying out or supporting objective corporate investigations, including fact-finding and assessments of allegations and potential risk.  

  • An aptitude for using a range of systems, tools and technologies, especially when it comes to working with big data.  

  • A commitment to handling highly sensitive and confidential material with the utmost discretion.  

  • Good judgement, excellent communication and team working skills, flexibility and a creative approach to problem solving – always looking for new ways to improve our processes and reduce the likelihood of further issues.  

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders, including day to day workload.  

  • Extremely organized and able to manage case-related documentation and to ensure that our case management systems are always up to date.  

  • A sound understanding of general anti-bribery and anti-corruption risks, basic employment law principles, fraud detection and investigation techniques.  

  • Able to demonstrate alignment to AstraZeneca’s values. 

Language Ability  

  • Proficient writing and oral communication skills in both English and Mandarin

Desirable Criteria 

  • Formal project management qualification 

  • Qualified accountant / Legal qualification
