DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES /

  • Manage and support patent prosecution & proceedings
  • Coordinate with Global IP on prosecution, docketing and asset management
  • Prepare & prosecute, or assist preparation & prosecution of patent applications on local inventions or/and in national phase
  • Maintain, optimize, implement or create systems to suit the growing IP needs and purposes in support of expanding business operations and commercial activities
  • Manage and support various aspects of IP matters in programs, projects and commercial activities in close collaboration with local and global IP, and business departments
  • Work cross-functions, including with GIP, Global Trademark Department, in support of all aspects of creation, transaction and management of IP assets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS /工 作 要 求 

Academic / Professional qualification:

Legal & patent bar qualifications; an advanced science degree (Ph.D. preferred) in the relevant field (organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences)

Technical / skill training:

  • In-depth practical experiences in the Chinese patent system; experience in patent drafting & prosecution, with a focus on the pharmaceutical industry
  • Track record in patent prosecution, PCT application and reexamination
  • Good presentation and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated outstanding people skills, ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
  • Strong organizational, time-management and project execution skills; disciplined, motivated & self-driven
  • Demonstrated coordination skills, oral & written communication skills (including fluent spoken English); abilities to learn, unlearn & relearn, and to work under time pressure

Working experience:

At least 8 years of practice experience at a reputable company or IP law firm

Essential:

(1) Advanced degree (preferably Ph.D.) in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry;

(2) IP or research experience in small molecule drugs;

(3) extensive patent drafting and prosecution experience;

(4) excellent oral communication skills (including fluent spoken English);

(5) people/service-oriented personality;

(6) creative & hardworking;

(7) legal bar & patent bar credentials

Desirable:   work experience at a reputable national or international IP firm, or a multinational drug company
