Key Objectives and Scope of the Position:

BMW is driving the development of automated driving vehicles as one of its main areas of focus. The BMW Automated Driving (AD) Team in China is fully integrated into the global network of highly educated experts of different domains with skillfull and versatile engineers and project managers.

In order to develop and test highly intelligent software for environmental perception, maneuver planning and acting of Automated Valet Parking (AVP), which is a L4 automated driving function, a huge amount of environmental sensor data needs to be collected, hosted and processed in an cloud based AD Platform (ADP.NEXT). The processing covers e.g. broad data analytics, reprocessing and KPI evaluation, simulation, virtual endurance run, etc.

In this job you will play a crucial role at the interfaces between BMW AVP function development team and IT teams as well as Chinese internet tech-companies and high-tech AD suppliers.

Major Responsibilities

• Tasking the development and improvement of off-board backend big data applications and related communication protocols targeting automated driving use cases.
• Execution of function development activities in China and coordination of project forces across teams.
• Steering of BMW China AD development teams and external cooperation partners (big Chinese Tech-Player) regarding data driven development.
• Review, monitor and report the status of own project.
• Support in the budget planning process for the organization unit

Education / Degree:

Master/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or another related field or Equivalent.

Knowledge / Skills /Competences:

• Good communication skills, good language skills in English (written and oral); German language skills optional.
• Familiar with AD customer function development processes and fluent on technical project management.
• Experience with project lifecycles and software processes. Good understanding of software-/system architecture and system design.
• Capable of working in a dynamic and challenging environment.
• Solid communication skills with ability to communicate sophisticated technical concepts and align on decisions with global and China local partners
• Usage of big data systems targeting automated driving applications.
