Sr. MSLs engage with healthcare professionals, institutions, and payers in a non-promotional manner, utilizing their prior scientific exchange expertise to form partnerships that deliver on the medical strategy quickly. They also capture and act upon field insights to improve patient pathways and outcomes. Sr. MSL is seen as a role model regarding upholding values and adhering to high standards.
Senior MSL Role
• Through prior scientific engagement experience, Senior MSLs quickly establish relationships and build networks to ensure valuable and trusted connections with healthcare professionals, payers, and healthcare institutions.
• To contribute to mentoring & coaching MSLs on all aspects of the Scientific Engagement Model (SEM).
• To lead projects in delivering the field-based objectives outlined in the Country Medical Plan.
• To play lead the collation, analysis and evaluation of data in the Insights Generation process.
• To establish and nurture cross functional partnerships with internal stakeholders.
• To contribute to evidence-generation activities (supporting local needs for the clinical research unit).
• All MSLs comply with the local and corporate compliance frameworks for external and internal interactions and completes all global/local mandatory trainings.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Engagement and Exchange
- Quickly build enduring relationships with healthcare professionals, payers, and institutions using prior experience.
- Understand and adapt to stakeholders' needs, contributing to field medical engagement plans.
- Communicate product benefits, risks, and clinical value accurately.
- Operate independently and support the team in complex healthcare environments.
Insight Generation
- Lead the Insights Generation process, providing data and generating valuable insights.
- Share insights through appropriate tools and support data analysis and evaluation.
Internal Collaboration
- Collaborate with medical teams to execute Country Medical Plans.
- Lead projects, hold others accountable, and develop an internal stakeholder network.
- Provide scientific support for internal functions and contribute to medical material development.
Supporting Evidence Generation
- Support data generation and identify opportunities for further data collection.
- Engage with clinical investigators and support Real World Evidence development.
Leadership
- Initiate, plan, execute, monitor and complete complexed medical projects in a logical sequence within given time and resource constraints
- Improve effectiveness of MSLs by supporting the MSL Manager in coaching and mentoring the team thru optimizing the use of the Scientific Engagement Model and supporting on-boarding and enduring training.
Training / Compliance
- Complete MSL trainings and compliance programs.
- Commit to continuous development of technical and soft skills.
Qualifications
Education
-Master’s degree in a clinical specialty, biomedical sciences, public health, or an equivalent field. (required)
Experience & Skills
-Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical or vaccine industry. (required)
-An in-depth knowledge of the disease state, therapeutic area, the relevant products in the portfolio and in the pipeline. (highly preferred)
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs. (required)
-Experienced with building strategic medical plans and successfully implementing medical initiatives. (highly preferred)
-Demonstrated success in project management. (required)
-Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously (highly preferred)
-Seen as a role model regarding upholding values and adhering to high standards. (required)
-Proven skills in communication and presentation skills simplifying complex topics. Demonstrated leadership with use of omnichannel tools and able to communicate via digital channels from remote (non-office based) environment. (required)
