As a Manufacturing Systems Interfaces & Equipment Connectivity Lead – Insulin Facility Beijing (IFB) within our Global Manufacturing Systems & Automation team, you’ll be part of the Insulin Automation team and report into the Automation Project Lead for IFB and will strongly collaborate with the global engineering team and the automation team of the INSULINK program. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of connectivity solutions for all equipment within the IFB project. This role requires close collaboration with global and local project stakeholders to ensure that the digital infrastructure of the new Beijing facility supports seamless operations, compliance, and innovation.
Main responsibilities:
Ensure project execution for IFB connectivity aligns with project objectives in terms of costs, deadlines, quality, and resource management
Define and execute the connectivity strategy for equipment and systems within the IFB scope (MES, Data Historian, Kepware, etc.)
Manage and coordinate cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver secure, scalable, and GMP-compliant connectivity solutions
Act as primary interface between automation, IT, and digital functions to ensure proper integration of OT/IT systems
Drive issue resolution for complex connectivity and integration challenges during design, FAT/SAT, and commissioning phases
Ensure all implemented systems and interfaces follow cybersecurity, data integrity, and regulatory compliance requirements
Maintain up-to-date documentation of system architecture, interfaces, configurations, and change history for IFB
About you
Experience:
Strong background in automation and integration of manufacturing equipment in GMP-regulated environments (e.g., biotech or pharmaceutical industry). Experience with designing and implementing connectivity concepts for OEM systems and plant-wide IT/OT integration.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of communication protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, TCP/IP)
Familiarity with industrial IoT, data integration, and cybersecurity best practices
Strong coordination, technical writing, and communication skills
Proven ability to work in a matrix organization with international teams
Education:
Minimum B.Sc. in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical qualification
Languages:
Fluency in English is required; Mandarin skills are an asset
