About the role:
Overview: The Data Operation & Service Lead is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability and stability of data foundation platforms and products, simultaneously adhere to the defined SLA to satisfy any on-demand requirements from end-users. This role demands a leader capable of fostering collaboration and driving operation excellence within the data foundation ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of a talented and collaborative operation and services team.
Collaborate closely with the Data Engineering Team to understand the data platforms and products being delivered and to align on operational requirements and define service level agreement.
Oversee the operation and services of all data foundation platforms and products ensuring their stability, availibility and performance.
Develop, lead, and empower an efficient, effective ops & service team to manage and monitor the entire data foundation ecosystem, include the Tecent cloud infrastracture, big data architecture, routine data pipelines, as well as on-demand data services requests from end users.
Foster effective teamwork and collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders, include associated upstream and downstream system owners, business users, as well as third-party technology partners.
Provide technical support and guidance to data users by addressing data-related queries, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a high level of service availability
Drive operation excellence by establishing best practices of operation standards and processes, as well as by implementing innovative solutions to improve operation efficiency and quality.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the data operation and services team, acting as a point of escalation for complex technical challenges and issues.
· Embed the organization's core values and code of conduct within the team, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of ethics and compliance with relevant policies, processes, and regulations.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
· Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in engineering and operation roles, with increasing levels of responsibility and complexity.
· Demonstrated experience (typically 4+ years) in leading, mentoring, or technically guiding other engineers or team members.
· Proven track record of successfully building, deploying and operating complex data platforms and data products, with deep knowledge of big data ecosystem and full-stack programming.
· Strong understanding of data operation and services principles, data security best practices, and Service Level Agreements (SLA) management.
· Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analytics thinking, with the ability to identify, resolve, and summarize operational issues quickly and precisely.
· Strong technical proficiency in cloud infrastructure (e.g., Tencent Cloud, Azure Cloud etc.), big data ecosystem (e.g., EMR, Kafka, StarRocks, Spark, Hive etc.), ETL development and monitoring, full-stack programming (e.g., Python, Node.js etc.).
· Solid understanding of data governance principles, data security best practices, and data quality management.
· Demonstrated leadership or team management experience, with a track record of fostering collaboration and quality.
· Customer-centric and service-oriented mindset, with a focus on ensuring data availability and reliability for end-users, and a passion for driving data democratization.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Experience in leverage AI or GenAI for innovative operation practices is preferred.
