About the position

 

We are seeking an exceptional, energetic, and self-motivated protein scientist who will be deeply involved in the scientific and experimental assessment of novel preclinical protein therapeutics and protein-based technology opportunities. The scope of our research focuses on developing innovative protein-based therapeutics in Immunology & Inflammation (I&I), Neuroinflammation, and Oncology. This role will be instrumental in advancing our large molecule drug discovery efforts, leveraging state-of-the-art protein science techniques to develop next-generation therapeutics. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to drive protein-based drug discovery from concept to preclinical development. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cutting-edge protein technologies, including but not limited to engineered antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates, bispecific and multi-specific protein scaffolds, protein degraders, novel protein modalities and targeted protein delivery systems, AI-assisted protein design and optimization.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Lead studies on protein structure, biochemistry, characterization, and developability for large molecule drug discovery

  • Design and execute protein expression, purification, and analytical characterization workflows

  • Perform protein engineering and optimization to enhance stability, solubility, and functionality

  • Conduct biophysical analyses including thermal stability, aggregation propensity, and binding kinetics

  • Employ techniques such as ELISA, SPR, DSC, SEC, and mass spectrometry for protein characterization

  • Lead the validation of external protein assets and support evaluation of emerging protein technologies

  • Contribute to research projects focused on therapeutic protein development for immune-mediated and neurodegenerative diseases

  • Engage in communications within cross-functional and global project teams

Qualifications

  • PhD in biological, biomedical, and pharmaceutical sciences, candidate with demonstrated expertise in Protein Science is highly desirable

  • At least 3 years of post-degree research experience

  • More than 5 years of hands-on experience in protein science, including the purification of a variety of recombinant proteins/antibodies, and in process analyses (SE-UPLC/RP-UPLC, LC-MS)

  • Extensive knowledge and research experience in therapy areas such as I&I, CNS, and oncology, as demonstrated by publications, patents, and/or licensing agreements

  • Proven track-record of effective project management and problem-solving ability

  • Experience in monitoring and tracking CRO conducted studies and other research activities

  • Be able to effectively communicate in English and Mandarin in a highly multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse environment

  • Skills for accurately reporting and interpreting experimental results, including proper documentation, report writing, and data analysis
